Even though I love to take photos, I try to stay out of the picture most of the time.

Growing up on a farm, I learned to love our environment and to hate waste. I also learned how to be innovative. These life lessons are applied to everything I do, and I thrive in the worlds of “What if?” and “Why not?”

This approach works particularly well in the communications field where one must continually stretch, rethink and grow. Since July of 2013, while working in Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), my projects have earned two gold MarCom awards and two gold Hermes awards. From 2006-2011, during the time I served as director of Public Information at Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC), enrollment grew 54 percent--the greatest of all the community colleges.

And while doing these jobs, I received two high honors -- the Imhotep Award from the UTHSC Student Government Association Executive Council and the Distinguished Service Award from the DSCC Alumni Association. For me, this is as good as it gets -- creating work that produces results for those that get and appreciate what you are doing.
